Summer Leadership Institute

 

 

The Summer Leadership Institute has three core components that transform students over the course of eight weeks. 

 

Peer-led Training: 

  • ​Student-created and teacher approved curriculum

  • Relationship-building and trust activities

  • Active and experiential learning

  • Incentives for completing training elements

Support: 

  • Peer-to-peer mentoring - older to younger students, structural reinforcement of curriculum

  • Referrals to outside agencies

  • Positive reinforcement

Opportunites to Use Skills/Community Connections

  • Job experience/skills

  • Application of skills in the "real world" through opportunities for community connections (trainings, public speaking engagements, action research).
